Check out this Ombre ;)

Ombre seems to be the talk in hair fashion more than ever, so I couldnt help but post this and give a little insight to this trend. So first and foremost, before Ombre there was Balayge. Balayge started out in France back in the 70's and became extremely popular here in the US by the late 90's.

Ombre is very similar to Balayage, but with different hair sectioning before the highlights are applied. Balayage is a hair coloring technique which is designed to create very natural-looking highlights which grow out without having the regrowth too noticeable.

Like Balayage, Ombre is the "new" trend on the block. The term Ombre is also a French word that translates as "graduated." It refers to the grown out look of highlights that have a darker root and then "graduate" blending into much lighter ends. Except for now, the reverse of lighter roots to darker ends has emerged trendy.

Heres a look a some Balayage hair styles:

As you can see from these hair syles they're grown out natural-looking highlights, with a natural base.

Ombre hairstyles :

From these hairstyles you can see the darker roots slowly graduate into the lightened "dipped" ends.

After searching through examples these I feel are the DONTS of Ombre :

Sorry Ciara it looks like your roots are screaming HELP

If you're gonna try to pull off the "Ombre" look, just dont be lazy. Looks like she was the stylist's guinnea pig.
